Saints Peter and Paul Church on Washington Square in San Francisco. The first location of the church was on the corner of Filbert Street and Grant Avenue. The San Francisco fire and earthquake of 1906 razed this structure to the ground. The present church, with its twin spires that soar 191 feet into the sky, was completed in 1924.
The church is featured in the Clint Eastwood movies Dirty Harry and The Dead Pool and scenes from Cecil B. DeMille's The Ten Commandments were filmed at the church while it was under construction.
After their civil ceremony in 1954, Marilyn Monroe and Joe DiMaggio returned for photographs on the steps of this San Francisco church and DiMaggio's funeral was held here on March 11, 1999.
