This photograph of the Golden Gate Bridge shows the bridge construction before the towers were completed. The Marina District and the Palace of Fine Arts are in the foreground. The construction of the Golden Gate Bridge began in 1932 and was completed in 1937. The opening of the Golden Gate Bridge was celebrated on May 27, 1937.

This construction worker is standing atop the north tower of the Golden Gate Bridge tower looking toward the Presidio in San Francisco. He doesn't appear to be wearing any safety harness.
